Melissa shares: “My mom gained her Heavenly wings on October 31, 2024 after a 6+ years battle with ovarian cancer at the young age of 70. She was my best friend and because we were only 18 years age difference people often thought we were siblings. She was my matron of honor in my wedding and when I turned 50, I did not want a party, so my family helped me make it a celebration of my mama having given birth to me 50 years ago! My friends and family brought mom gifts, cards and flowers in honor of her decision to keep me when at the time she was a pregnant teen.
Early on wasn’t real easy for my mom having been so young and single so my fraternal Aunt Susan and family stepped in and helped raise me. She became my “other” mother when my mom needed assistance. As a matter of fact my aunt Sue potty trained me, taught me how to bake, always took me to Sunday school/church growing up and taught me how to drive. Sue has been here for every milestone in my life and when my mom came back to the Lord prior to her illness, the two of these ladies became very good friends and shared a strong faith in the Lord. I am blessed to know my mom was a saved, born again Christian when she left us but I am also blessed that my aunt Sue saved my mom and me when we were so young and she has been my rock then and now.”
