Gloria shares: My mother has been a woman who suffered a lot after losing her own mother at a very young age. She lived with her father, but later he remarried. Her stepmother was very cruel to her, and they lived in a very remote area far from Mexico City. Later, my mother had to work and never got to attend school.
After some time, she married my father and had 12 children. Motherhood was difficult for her—she lost three children. When my mother was 40, we helped her go to school to learn how to read and write. It was a great success—she was able to read and write. Her life was hard, but nothing is impossible for God. Her perseverance and dedication to prayer have kept her going, even through several illnesses. She is strong. She is now 92 years old. She walks well, cooks, and her faith has remained firm—she is a woman of faith. To me, she is the most beautiful gift that God has given me.
