Maryann shares: Lyla is age 95 years old, and a widowed lady in our congregation I adopted as my mom. She had a son who was about 14 or 15 years old who took his life. She has one sister and a few nieces and nephews. She lives alone in her own apartment. She still has her drivers license and is a good driver. We usually go out for coffee and a donut on Saturday mornings in a neighboring town, and take turns driving. We also meet up Thursday mornings for coffee at our little ice cream shop to play a little “dice” game. We see each other attending church Sunday mornings. She’ll usually be helping out anytime we have a funeral or a fundraiser at church, peeling potatoes or whatever needs to be done. She is willing to share stories of her life and how she grew up. I think of her as my mom and have to work hard at getting her to join us for holidays, as she always thinks she is an intruder.

In “Jesus Loves,” Zach Williams sings to the outcasts, the runaways, and everyone who needs a reminder that Jesus loves them!
