Michelle shares: My mother has always been a caregiver. While growing up on our dairy farm, my parents took in foster children for years. There was a toll on us kids when we ended up taking in troubled teenagers, and when my parents saw that effect on my brother and I, they discontinued fostering. My mother then got licensed for family childcare. She did home family childcare for many years until my parents moved off the dairy farm. My mother has always been instrumental in our small church and has served in many many ways. Unfortunately, my mother has also always lived with chronic pain and has had many surgeries. She is also a breast cancer survivor! Her faith has always remained strong though. As my mother has aged, her pain has gotten worse and she gave up on any treatments. However, the Lord lead us to something we have never considered for her debilitating back pain… a spinal cord stimulator implant. She is scheduled for surgery May 6 and we are so excited for this answered prayer! She (and my father) will be able to resume some quality of life. For the past several years they have had no social life and cannot attend events due to my mother’s pain. They often even have to miss church. Upon recovery from this upcoming surgery I can’t wait for my mom (and dad) to start a new life!
