I sometimes feel that Youth Pastors can get overlooked. I say that because until I started working as an Administrative Assistant 3 years ago at my church. I was one that didn’t realize ALL that o Youth Pastor does! I have seen the countless hours Kyle studies in preparation for Youth Group and his mentor group. He constantly looks for new ideas to keep kids engaged in not only coming on Wednesday evenings, but Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, etc. This is a daunting task! Kids are so busy nowadays with school, sports, home stuff and jobs, that I don’t think most people realize what all Kyle is needing to do to get kids to make their faith a priority and come to Youth Group. Kyle is very invested in students by praying for them, teaching God’s word to them, building relationships, and raising up leaders. I think it speaks loudly when we’ve seen an increase in how many kids are involved in Youth Group. It’s because of all the hard work Kyle does on a daily basis. And then there’s VBS – the countless hours, countless emails, shopping, decisions, organizing helpers, decorators, and the list goes on and on! I know our Senior Pastor has talked about what great support Kyle is to him as well. Kyle goes above and beyond his “job description.” When we’ve had trees fall, Kyle is out there with a chainsaw cutting branches, hauling brush, chipping brush, and cutting wood to be used for campfires. Kyle has trained people to do sound for our church services. He has also helped our electrician install t.v.’s all over the church. Kyle sets up tables and chairs every week for 2 of the Sunday School classes and also sets up the chairs for the over-flow of people attending the church service every week. When there is an event at church, Kyle is the one setting up microphones, making sure t.v.’s work, etc. On cold mornings in the winter, Kyle will have the fireplace going and the doors shut in my office so that it’s nice and warm in there for me. How amazingly thoughtful is that?!! He is constantly doing these type of things for people in and outside of church. He does all of these things without most people knowing and while he is a husband and dad of 2 small children.
